entry description
Right from the beginning, men have always been fascinated by the concept of temporary and ephemeral of things that surround him. Smells, dust, plants or even mold, all these remains of the past remind us that we are only passing through and that in the end everything return to earth. All these details of forgotten lives are moving, funny or nostalgic testimonies of whose evocation is enough to illuminate our imagination. With this series of photographs called "Ask the dust", I have chosen to offer a personal vision of these abandoned places; where the role of light is essential and gives back a fraction of life in these derelict locations. Light becomes the only current and living element of the photography, it replaces the human being and the emptiness that he left behind him reminding us that life always goes on. Finally, light is the symbol of the strength of time passing by; inevitable and definitive, because in these places where time seems hanging, it reminds us that nature always find a way to overtake humans and their constructions. To me, these moments are the most suitable for a reflection on the society we are living in and its recent evolution as for the way to apprehend the anterior periods of its history.about the photographer
Passionate forever by travels and photography, Romain Veillon is specialized in the urban exploration of our abandon heritage across the world; whether it is old castles, factories, hospitals or even churches. He immortalizes these places where time seems to be frozen and share with us the discovery of these incredible locations that the world have forgotten. Each photography owns its proper history and invite us to dive with him looking for these ghosts of the past. His work questions us on the connections between Man and his environment in a society where recent changes push us to interrogate about our former actions and their consequences today.back to gallery
