High Tide Post
It sits in the Bristol Channel and it there to measure the height of the tide, which has the second highest tide in the world at almost 15 metres and only second to the Bay of Fundy, Canada.
Aslo, at the top of the post is a light to aid boat users that use the jetty to launch their vessels and to warn others such as jet-skiers, kite surfers, canoeist and other water sports enthusiast of the dangers in and around this area.
I had initially travelled to Burnham on Sea to photograph an old wooden lighthouse but the conditions were not favourable but while seeking out an alternative shot the Post caught my eye.
The image was obtained by taking up a position as far along the jetty as I was allowed to go and shooting directly out to sea using a telephoto lens and a Super Stopper to achieve the effect of the post being very prominent against a very plain sky and the flat, calm sea.
His unique vision as he captures life in a contemporary form, revealing the profound beauty that monochrome photography inherently possesses and with a deliberate intention to fabricate both stillness and dynamic movement within his striking shots he has meticulously built a diverse body of work.
His creative flair and keen eye shines through every image and by masterfully combining his passion for art, alongside photography, he expertly mimics the aesthetic of silhouettes in a highly contrasted, minimalistic, and atmospheric fashion.
