entry description
For this series of photographs taken in Dubai, I was interested in shooting less recognisable locations as it adds more intrigue to the photograph. Finding beauty in places that may be dismissed and composing simplistic photographic scenes that produce something unexpected. I wanted to achieve a sense of belonging to the viewer and not just bombard people with classic Dubai city-scape shots we are all accustomed to. All of the images in this series were taken within a matter of minutes of the hustle and bustle of the city, but seem to hold an element of solidarity and calm and offer a 'New perspective' of this global ultra modern city. All the images in the series are inspired by abstract expressionism, using tone, line and shape to paint the picture. The square format is a homage to the medium format negative and provides symmetrical balance to the photograph.about the photographer

Anthony has over 40 international photography awards and 17 years experience as a photographer, he is based in the UK and UAE. Anthony incorporates a minimalistic approach within his photography and this simplicity shifts our perspective so the imagery is less about actual place and more about emotional state. In his photographs he uses negative space and an ethereal aesthetic to provide the viewer with a sense of serenity and calm, sharing the emotions of the moments he captures. His post-production style offers pastel expressionism to further sooth the soul offering the viewer the opportunity of escape into the purest essence of solitude. Anthony is drawn to water and open space, so you will see this narrative in many of his photographs. “My wish is to offer different frames of reference that transport you to a place that is suspended between reality and surrealism"back to gallery
