honorable mention
David Magee ireland
title
Lightscapes
A photographic seascape study exploring the reflections of the moon on the shoreline.
In 1982, he attended Glasgow School of Art & Design where he received a B.A. Hons. in Graphic Design (studying under Thomas Joshua Cooper, American fine-art landscape photographer).
Magee provides an antidote to the world we now inhabit, a world of excess, over-branding and mass production. His intention is to offer the viewer a point in time to reflect and be drawn into a world of oneness, contemplation and tranquility.
To engage the viewer with the experience of being immersed in the landscape and the spirituality of nature, as well as touching on themes of transcendence and self.
Earth, Water, Air… are the recurring elements that he works with. They each form the basis of his photographs, in whatever coalescence they take, once he is absorbed in the landscape.
It is the combination of light, tone and movement that inspires contemplation, and preserves the transient moments composed
in his exquisite prints.
The location is the catalyst between the literal and the emotional, with an emphasis on the feeling.
The feeling is everything.
