Blazin' Persids
Surrounded by beautiful Pine & Sequoia trees, they made the perfect foreground companion only to compliment the milky way cresting over the horizon.
The shots with multiple streaks of shooting stars were the culmination of multiple frames taken throughout the night and compiled as a timelapse movie of the event.
These frames were then created into a movie and a 360 degree picture for viewing in a VR headset.
I hope you enjoy seeing these Persids as much as I enjoyed capturing them!
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Eli graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts with a degree in Broadcasting. Over the span of his VFX career, Eli has contributed to over 150 projects, including feature films - Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Oblivion, The Amazing Spider Man, The Social Network - television series - The Millers, Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, Eastwick - and various commercial ads.
Eli's work on Smallville has garnered him multiple VES Award nominations and two VES Awards: one for Outstanding Compositing in a Broadcast Program and the other for Best Matte Painting in a Live-Action Broadcast Program. He is a member of the Visual Effects Society, Academy of Television Arts & Science.
One of Eli’s proudest moments was working with Michael Jackson on the This Is It tour. He says working in the new ACES color format on Oblivion and shooting high frame rate 3D on dual Epics rank at the top of his greatest professional accomplishments.
Eli is excited to be developing content specifically for the Oculus Rift and participating in the latest VR movement. He cites MC Esher, James Cameron, and Roger Deakins as his artistic influences and he would love the opportunity to work with Alex Proyas, Michel Gondry, and Gaspar Noe.
The best advice Eli has been given and embraces every day is “don’t make decisions when you’re angry, don’t make promises when you’re happy, and most importantly, always have something to look forward to.”
Eli’s feature credits for Technicolor include:
• Guardians of the Galaxy
• Dolphin Tale 2
• Captain America – The Winter Soldier
• Noah
• Delivery Man
• The Internship
• Oblivion
