title
a lagoon glimpse
A stingray fills the foreground while black tip reef sharks appear in the background. I took this picture on september 2017 in the famous Moorea lagoon, after spending maybe 3 or 4 hours to get these species in a row. Rays and sharks belong to the same family and are so graceful animals, it's a privilege to enter their world.
A question of scale
a diver is accepted by a pod of spermwhales. They are socializing, clicking, hugging...Such an intimate moment with these wonderful gentle giants. First we stayed far to not disturb them but they closer came by themselves! This picture was taken on february in Dominica.
divided paradise
black tip reef sharks are really common in lagoons, everywhere in the world.I could spend hours just looking at them. This picture was taken in Moorea lagoon, French polynesia, on september 2017. At dawn, these sharks become a little bit more nervous and inquisitive, in order to hunt. Above the surface is the pristine nature of Moorea. Polynesian people live in harmony with nature,so I try to do.
stand tall
Spermwhales are sleeping, vertically, well stabilized by spermaceti in their head. Adults are really stable whereas calves are sometimes clumsy as they try to stay vertical like adults do but they can't and gradually finish to horizontal before trying again and again to stay vertical. They sleep several minutes in this position (maybe 30, 40minutes) before needing to breathe. February, Dominica
a true legend
Mako shark is a legendary shark, the fastest and on e of the most beautiful to see underwater, with its copper tones. It's also one of the most killed, accidentally and mako population decreases everywhere in the world. Unlike other sharks the mako uses its eyesight to hunt

about the photographer
I began photography many years ago but underwater photography only 3 years ago, which is my main hobby. I work as a doctor in Toulouse, France, but as soon as I have some time I put on my wetsuit and go in the water. I try to reveal the beauty of the marine fauna, specially whales and sharks.back to gallery
