Symmetrical Parts
I am constantly striving to observe and form my own unique frame of the visual situation laid out in front of me either in colour or in black and white, studying the subject matter and exploring its potential visual connection/interpretation beyond just representing the view in front of the camera, reshaping its context.
Many of my photographic projects originate from a desire to invite the viewer to witness some of the subtle unseen details of our environment, whether it be an off beat street scene, a conceptual observation of the natural world or a more intimate study of a person's life and how they function within it, respectively.

entry description
The images that I have included in this submission explore the use of photography to create a variety of abstract visualizations of static or mobile, living or inanimate subject matter, respectively. I am repeatedly drawn to constructing abstract images that simply represent an exploration of spatial placement and visual connection by examining colour, form, line, shape, space, texture and value provided by each subject. A lot of my photographic work demonstrates symmetry of thought which is strongly reminiscent of my previous mathematical and scientific training, there is an attempt to frame and balance the views between and within the images captured. Each image in this series has been formed by photographing parts of architecture, plants, energy, and land form, respectively. I have expanded on my interpretation of each piece to symmetrically form thought provoking images that evolve from the original subject, exploring the psychology of these abstract views. Each piece challenges the viewer to form their own interpretation of what they see, do we all see the same collection of elements or are we independently motivated by our own thoughts and processes. The original photographs were taken at a number of different locations and are part of an on-going project to explore the seven elements of art and their collective visual impact.about the photographer
My photographic interests are varied; I like to explore image interpretation by using a variety of techniques such as camera-less, film and digital media. This stems from challenging myself technically to create images that attempt to capture the depth, shape and visual impact of the proposed subject matter by presenting it on media that enables an organic type of exploration. It is very much an evolving process, encouraging me to closely examine the living and abstract world and then form images that explore the spontaneous nature that subtly exists all around us.I am constantly striving to observe and form my own unique frame of the visual situation laid out in front of me either in colour or in black and white, studying the subject matter and exploring its potential visual connection/interpretation beyond just representing the view in front of the camera, reshaping its context.
