The photos were taken with analog medium format and show the Brandenburg Gate, the Gendarmenmarkt, the former Airport Tempelhof, the German Museum and the Berlin Cathedral. Exposure times varied from a few seconds to several minutes.
I don't just want to capture images with my photos, but also emotions and atmosphere. Black and white photography enhances this effect by focussing on shapes, contrasts and the depth of the image and the subject itself. The result is timeless photographs that are intended to convey a sense of calm when viewed.

about the photographer
My name is Patrick Betthaus ( née Opierzynski) and for me, photography, peace and relaxation are closely linked. The stillness that I experience when taking photographs allows me to fully immerse myself in the moment.I don't just want to capture images with my photos, but also emotions and atmosphere. Black and white photography enhances this effect by focussing on shapes, contrasts and the depth of the image and the subject itself. The result is timeless photographs that are intended to convey a sense of calm when viewed.
