Foul Play
The hand is clenched to the reeds to portray a struggle, with the poignant focus being a grey racing pigeon (symbolism for a fowl- play on words). This bird is a tame specimen that is trained to home to the loft, allowing it to be safely released after the photo shoot.
The setting conveys an eery feeling, it is a tranquil spot on a local recreational lake that camouflages the canoe. The image is connected to urbanisation using the backdrop of the city scape. The rope is a thick, dirty, and weathered piece that was found washed up on a beach in Sydney.
This philosophy requires keen observational awareness and creative thinking. The play of light and these two skill are key elements incorporated into Tailai’s intuitive approach to photography.
