Urban Tapestry
My personal photographic passion is to explore the imagery of daily life in 21st century New York City (NYC) .
One of my current projects attempts to capture (candid reflections of) subway and bus passengers, who epitomize the diverse mosaic of ethnicities and cultures that make up Queens.
I choose to photograph these passengers in expressive, private moments. Through the camera lens, the subject(s) are fragmented, hemmed in, isolated from one another amidst revery and introspection.
They are reflected, blurred, and distorted through dirty windows; transformed by the interplay of streetlights, tunnel lights, The grid structure of the window frames, poles, captures shapes, and abstractions forming images that are endearing, puzzling and theatrical; enhanced by every day colors or masked by shifting shadows.
Taken together, they become endearing urban visual tapestry.
Ed revived his passion for photography,His personal photographic passion is to explore the imagery of daily commuters across New York’s public transportation. These projects examine the interplay of light and shapes: while most are granted visual access to the object of reality, these photographs attempt to interpret their appearance and rediscover subjects in magical situations.
