We rigged our ropes to rappel into Stephens Gap, a 143-foot pit in Jackson County, Alabama. Around 10 a.m. the sunlight cascaded through the entrance and illuminated the pedestal below. Sharon Clayton clipped into the rope and descended into the shaft of light like a divine messenger from heaven.about the photographer
My grandmother spent her entire life on a dairy farm. She never traveled more than a hundred miles from her home. When I would show her one of my pictures of the Tetons or Alaska, she'd say, "David, I'll never get to see those places in my lifetime, but I get to see them through you." Just as with my grandmother, I hope my photography transports people to the far corners of the earth, as well as the local "Hole in the Wall.I love to write. I love to take pictures. I love to travel. This is my Holy Trinity.
