In 2018 the last active coal mine of the German Ruhr area was shut down. The region has been going through a vast structural change, and as a result many company housings were sold. The now private owners gradually started to refurbish their new homes. This sometimes lead to unique appearances, contrasting the former uniform architectural style.about the photographer
