entry description
In the artwork "In a lonely place", natural forces and surrealism are drawn into the photography, with references to everyday life and an underlying conflict.about the photographer
Gjert Rognli was born in October of 1966 in Norway, it was in a sea-Sami settlement in the 60s and 70s, where laestadianism and natural religion characterized the community, and he uses parts of his upbringing in the north, where the proximity to animals, death and nature was a natural part of life. This was an invaluable experience that has done much with his inspiration and interpretation of reality. He works as a multimedia artist, and in the last few years he has worked on his own short films, photography, books and performance. In his art projects, he often deals with questions related to identity, religious roots, sexuality, silence and time. Rognli has received a number of scholarships and international awards for his movies and photographs, and had many separate and collective exhibitions at home and abroad, including the Louvre Museum in Paris. He has worked at many of Norway's most important cultural institutions such as Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, the National Theater. He also worked as a scenography assistant at the Olympic Games in Lillehammer 1994.back to gallery
