I Do Not
The photos in this series represent two people in this fight, those who have survived and those who are still fighting. Willow branches represent resilience and withstanding great challenges.
Children, mostly girls, are still being forced into marriage. These are children and they are alone. Their parents, their sole protectors, are not there for them. We need to speak up so that laws are there when no one else can be.

entry description
As a portrait photographer, I wanted this series to feel like portraiture. But it needed the influence of documentary-style shooting because it needed to feel real and unsettling; unlike normal photos surrounding a wedding. Photography does this specific issue a lot of justice because it forces my audience to ask questions. Photographing a young girl that looks like a bride feels taboo. I wanted people to feel that discomfort because when people are uncomfortable it forces conversation and conversation brings change. The photos in this series represent two people in this fight, those who have survived and those who are still fighting.
