Fresh Trash
The concept idea of fresh trash can be traced back to consumer criticism and environmental pollution. The imagery of the book represents various consumer goods that look at first glance supposedly aesthetic, but in fact consist of "garbage". In addition, the visual language is supported by a combination of ironically inserted advertising slogans with every photo.
The materials used were deliberately chosen very carefully and wisely. All items are waste products of an average German household.
The goal of the photo book is to stimulate the reader to think beyond the pictorial and linguistic content as well as to spark a discussion on the subject of comsumerism and our throwaway society, as well as environmental pollution.
The photo book 'Fresh Trash' was also made to showcase a new development in printing technolgy called variable data printing. This technique makes it possible to produce various individual printed products. In this case, the photos and advertising slogans were mixed up randomly, as well as the background colors and format of the photos and the book itself. This leads to 400 totally unique books in four different formats, where the slogans and the pictures result in various combinations that also give every single page a unique message of its own. In the last step recycled materials were used for the pages and cover, which is an important part of the whole concept. 'Fresh Trash' was not sold commercially.
“I got interested in photography when I was a child, mainly thanks to my father who was passionate about photography throughout his life. Once I turned 10 years old I got my first camera, and we instantly became devoted companions.”
After going through high school and university (Media University Stuttgart) Wolf-Peter started a career as an independent photographer and film producer, working both in Germany and abroad. He has published numerous books and is now passing on his experience to the younger generation as a freelance lecturer.
His passion: people in front of the camera, both spontaneous or in a studio setting.
“What else can I say about myself? I’m passionate about what I do, and get excited for almost any project, while still keeping my balance.
"In my free time I like to engage activities like sports, cooking and my most time consuming hobbies: music and traveling. Always trying to get my friends and family to do all the above with me.
My Credo: Life is short, make the best out of it. “
