The Seed
Speak silently , if speak you must, like the woman speaking to a seed.
If you are too fair, cover yourself with ash,
If too clever, go half asleep.'
The metal sculpture named 'Seed' is from the series of 'GMO' (Genetically Modified Organisms). The metal surface is representing how technology destroyed the organisms . The chain effect surely will be modifying the coming generations in human kind. 'The seed' is representing how human kind adapting to new technologies and to their effects and underlining the problem. The seed became like a metal, it is cold, it has lost its nature and organism. How these GMO will effect future generations?
She started her career as a fashion editor for a global fashion magazine Marie Claire in 1996 and contuniued with Elle magazine, after her graduation from LCF (London College of Fashion) Fashion Design. In following years, she has been the Art Director of most known campaigns in fashion, commercial, photography and television industries.
She started her second career as photographer. Her editorial works has been published in global magazines based in Turkey.
Cagla Baykal won a Nominee at Fine Art Photography of the year 2019 in Fine Art Nudes categorie and two Honorable Mentions at International Photography Awards (IPA) 2019 in Fine Art Collage and Special Digitaly Enchaged.
In 2017 a Honorable Mention International Photographer of the Year in three categories, such as Fine Art Abstract, Fine Art Nude and Fine Art Conceptual. And in 2016 won Honorable Mention International Photographer of the Year in four categories, such as Fine Art Abstract, Fine Art Landscape, Editorial Daily Life and People Fashion/Beauty.
Her works also exhibited in Contemporary Istanbul.
