In November Hong Kong students turned the occupied universities into fortresses and blocked the main communication zones, paralyzing the economic life of the city. After the week of clashes most of the universities were abandoned by students beside one, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The police began the assault 17 November at 10 o'clock and the battle the battle lasted until 5 am next day. After the clashes unable to capture the campus, the police began a siege that lasted for 12 days.Students on campus were facing rioting charges of up to 10 years in prison.This led to desperate attempts to escape through sewer system. During fights and siege more than 300 students were injured and more than 1000 were arrested. The youngest defender of the university was 12 years old.about the photographer
