entry description
This series of photographs was captured during the shamal season in the Arabian desert. Shamal means North in Arabic and is a wind that blows through the Persian Gulf region and will only occur on a few set days per year. You can only visualise wind through the movement of objects. In these images the movement of cloud shadows, sand and dust particles can be seen in the form of contrasting tone and lines across the terrain. This movement of sand is called saltation, which can visually alter the landscape and add a painterly quality due to the movement of millions of sand granules per second.about the photographer
Anthony Lamb (b.1976) in the UK, he completed a BA (hons) in Art History and Furniture and Product Design. Anthony has over 40 international photography awards and 17 years experience as a photographer, he is based in the UK and UAE. Anthony incorporates a minimalistic approach within his photography and this simplicity shifts our perspective so the imagery is less about actual place and more about emotional state. In his photographs he uses negative space and an ethereal aesthetic to provide the viewer with a sense of serenity and calm, sharing the emotions of the moments he captures. His post-production style offers pastel expressionism to further sooth the soul offering the viewer the opportunity of escape into the purest essence of solitude. Anthony is drawn to water and open space, so you will see this narrative in many of his photographs. “My wish is to offer different frames of reference that transport you to a place that is suspended between reality and surrealism"back to gallery
