silent Season
In my opinion, one of the beautiful landscapes is the one that captures a quiet and lonely scene.
In some parts of Hokkaido, it is not unusual for it to start snowing as early as November and continue to snow a lot until the next spring in April.
As the snow begins to fall, the breath of the people disappears from the scenery and an empty, quiet space spreads all around.
In such a snowy world, the only artifacts that stand still in silence make the loneliness of the landscape even more pronounced.
It's one of the connections between people and nature at this time of year for me, and one of the most important elements that adds beauty to an empty snowy landscape.
When I was shooting this series, I asked myself, "What is the color of winter?" I thought that the absence of color would accentuate the loneliness and quietness even more.so this time I created it as a black and white series.
When I was 20 years old, I learned photography at a photography studio in Tokyo, and I have been working as a landscape photographer since I was 24 years old.
I have taken many landscapes not only in Japan but also in other countries such as Tibet, Nepal, and South America.
