High Water in Venice
In November 2019 there was a high water level in Venice of exceptional proportions. 90% of the city has been submerged and the Venetians have once again had to face the damage of this natural phenomenon with which they have always lived!
The problem of high water in Venice, however, is worsening from year to year. The cause is the rising seas due to the melting of glaciers in the Arctic ice caps.
The partial remedy for high water exists and is called Mose but its completion was hampered by the usual Italian bureaucratic problems and other "unclear" problems.
If this city, unique in the world and of amazing beauty, is not quickly remedied, it will be condemned to be inexorably submerged by the water of the lagoon not just a few days a year but forever.
-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------
In this series of photos, taken with the long exposure technique, Venice appears as if suspended in a timeless limbo. The water seems to have immobilized the city in an icy grip. Due to the water that has invaded all the walkable space, Venice appears abandoned and emptied of its usual flow of tourists.
