title
An Ode to the 12
Each piece is made in hopes of representing this escape of mine, and to serve as a portal of escape for others. Though reality is, well, real, I hope to offer an opportunity to reenvision the world we live in without limitation. The places I have created may not be physically attainable, like dream worlds. Surrealism and reality have little differences; there’s just a slight change in perspective.
With a preferred medium of photography, Niko currently uses both analog and digital techniques to create his work. By “capturing” aspects of reality, Niko attempts to explore ideas and notions of human emotion, ego, nature, and the sublime.
As an artist, Niko, feels as though each piece, thought, and sketch acts as its own entity. Each idea is its own world. The artist acts as its own universe, continuously giving birth to new worlds and destroying others.
Each piece stands as a portal to its world; its only job to connect to you.

entry description
Greece, its history, beauty, and giving nature is ingrained within me and has a large influence in my work. These pieces are inspired by the Dodecanes of the 12 islands, a cluster of many small islands in Greece. Each piece is composed of images from several different islands I visited over the years. This area has acted as an escape for me for years. A place of serenity from the chaos of reality. Using aspects of the islands, I have created my own “escape world”.Each piece is made in hopes of representing this escape of mine, and to serve as a portal of escape for others. Though reality is, well, real, I hope to offer an opportunity to reenvision the world we live in without limitation. The places I have created may not be physically attainable, like dream worlds. Surrealism and reality have little differences; there’s just a slight change in perspective.
