Wonders of the Night
All photos in this composite were shot in Namibia in July of 2021, and the milky way shots were taken over the course of 9.5 hours and then stacked together in 30 minute increments. The foreground features quiver trees, which are actually not trees but large succulent plants, indigenous to southern Namibia and northern South Africa. I originally had not planned to try this photography technique on this trip, but I realized the alignment ended up being perfect while I was there.

entry description
Nature is full of beautiful patterns, and one of my personal favorites lays hidden in the southern hemisphere's night sky. Throughout the night (and day), the Milky Way's galactic core rotates around the south celestial pole. When we compress the movement of this rotation into a single image, something amazing is revealed. All photos in this composite were shot in Namibia in July of 2021, and the milky way shots were taken over the course of 9.5 hours and then stacked together in 30 minute increments.
