entry description
This photograph is a self-portrait taken on my fuji xt4. Currently, spring has just sprung and while I was meditating I was thinking about the beauty of spring and what it brings to the world. Immediately thinking about the season I get feminine energy. Exactly a year ago I looked in the mirror and I said to myself " who are you?", it was a serious question because when I saw the person in front of me I couldn't identify them. This sparked a deep journey of finding myself and figuring out who I am. At this current time, 12:35 pm on Wednesday 4/7/21 I use the pronouns they/ he this took a whole year of internal work to get to where I am now about my gender situation. I really wanted to embody my feminine energy in these pictures to replicate the feminine energy that I had envisioned for spring.about the photographer
My name is Alex Comeau (they, he). I'm a self-portrait, portrait, film photographer from Rochester, NH. I am originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, my parents were both born and raised there. When they were 32 they had me on November 27th, 2000 making me a Sagittarius, meaning I'm all about expanding new dimensions of thought. I use a fuji xt4 mirrorless camera with an 18-55mm lens and my pentaxk1000. My work tends to revolve around my experience being a queer, gender non-conforming 20-year-old struggling with an extreme religious growing up. My intention when creating this work is to be that visual representation for others out there like me. Growing up sometimes it feels as though you don't belong in your environment, but seeing someone else like you is such a validating feeling. When I started creating work for myself my work depended a lot on my emotions and connecting with other individuals going through the same issues.back to gallery
