Geometric Hong Kong
This series portrays the way of life of different urban characters in the context of their surrounding geometric environment, which were all culled from mundane everyday scenes, with fleeting moments seized from near and distant. The somehow minimalist approach seemingly comes in contrast with the maximalism of the dense cityscape of Hong Kong – famously known as a ‘Concrete Jungle’.
Nevertheless, those subjects look trapped and lost inside a geometric artificial labyrinth without realising it – perhaps this series is also a metaphorical view of urbanity and the hectic contemporary way of life in metropolis like Hong Kong.
His ongoing project ‘Geometric Hong Kong’ is a street photography series which portrays the way of life of urban characters in the context of their surrounding geometric environment, with the photographic approach of isolating urban subjects, geometric element and forms from the chaotic environment of Hong Kong – which works metaphorically to imply the notion of urbanity as well as contemporary way of life within modern metropolis like Hong Kong.
