Cosmogony of Wine 2020
«Cosmogony of Wine" Project was born out of the desire to reveal the magic of a process put in place by Man for more than 5000 years to make wine. The story of this "elixir" tells of our deep attachment to the earth, to nature, to the principle of transformation inherent in the universe. I wanted to make this collective memory resonate to reveal its initiatory side, its almost sacred dimension.
These wine tanks look like planets where elements collide in a tumultuous battle. Image of a living earth that cracks and swells before transforming into an uncertain space that of the future, of a future forever transformed...
The biggest challenge for me was to show a transformation that we never see as it takes place in total darkness, inside the vats.
Scientists have shown that the molecular diversity of a wine makes it possible to trace the evolution of its life and to read a "memory" of men. Furthermore, the slow evolution of the chemical particles of a wine inside a bottle is, on a smaller scale, similar to the evolution of microorganisms in the universe. So they use wine as a model to study the cosmos.
Quoting a poet, Richard Feynman, a major physicist of the second half of the 20th century who received the Nobel Prize for his work on Quantum Mechanics, wrote:
"The whole universe is in a glass of wine ..."
He currently lives and works in France.
