I didn’t fall down the stairs
One day a woman I knew but not so much, had some marks sticking out of her clothes. She always pretended that was an accident.
I always had a doubt : the curious location of the marks, there intensities. But it could be. And I still ask myself today : perhaps I should have insisted ? I did it a bit, but at a moment I felt I was too intrusive. How to manage that ? It is still a question today.
This photo series is in memories of this woman - and all women - victims of domestic violence and who, that time, didn't fall down the stairs.
His portraits paints people in a "neutral" presence where their body detaches from a minimalist background. There is always an emotional and symbolic relationship between the people photographed and the environment in which they are portrayed.
