The old trees die over time, fall and form the habitat for many species. For economic reasons, such a forest is very rare today. These pictures are part of a series in which I take photos of a forest that has been left to itself for decades and is not managed. To see how life in such a forest develops into a fascinating diversity, you have to take a close look.
All the pictures in this series are panoramas stitched from several focus stacked images and layers. In the very large pictures you can see the beauty of nature, which develops if you let it, extraordinary patterns, fascinating colors, insects, their tracks, fungi and plants.
