entry description
Surfers of Lanzarote is an ongoing project with the intent to explore, through portraiture, the psychological aspect of person right before or right after surfing a wave. Rather then focus on the athletic gesture I preferred to investigate what pushes an individual to play with such a force nature what motivates a person to duel with nature again and again and what is the reward that such a challenge can offer. For some people surfing is a sport for other a way of living for others a philosophy but in all cases it's undeniable that the experience of riding a wave creates a bond with nature that for many people is literally life changing. Surfing is an evergreen activity ever more popular across all social layers and has the power to polarize people and create life long connections.Lanzarote is one of the most popular spot for surfers in Europe and everyday you can see pro surfers, amateur and locals share the same waves.
