Moments Of Light
Over the last two years, I took the images for my series Moments Of Light under the umbrella of several incomplete projects. Eventually, Lightroom folders started to merge as I chipped away at the pictures I had taken and began to look for a common thread throughout the varying interests I had gathered.
I enjoy taking my photographs in the evening when the light is soft, and the shadows are long. I also find overcast days with flat light very appealing, so I began to see the images as a study of light as it led me to different subjects in my wanderings. This point of focus significantly accelerated my selection process and inspired the title given to the series.
Therefore, this may be some of my most substantial work since I had no preconceived notion about what it would be when making the images for it. I was free of my constraints, and I think that is present in the flow and feel of the photos. I considered William Eggleston's book The Democratic Forest as inspiration or permission for selecting and arranging the final product for its approach to a non-narrative storyline.
I utilize analog and digital photographic mediums to create my work with a strong passion for black and white photography. I share a kindred spirit with the New Topographic Movement for its study of man-altered landscapes and our relationship between the natural world and the constructed human habitat.

entry description
Moments Of Light is a series derived from no clear origin or interest other than the light itself. Perhaps this project is an attempted escape from subjectivity while allowing the light to illuminate things of interest that it chooses to document. Though any real departure from bias is hardly possible, following the path of our radiating star across the sky can lead to democratic discovery in the landscape. There is no hiding the ambiguity of directionless narrative, and that is where a warm acceptance of fate awaits us under the sun.Over the last two years, I took the images for my series Moments Of Light under the umbrella of several incomplete projects. about the photographer
Photographic studies, poetry, and landscape make up my body of work. Reflection, repetition and memory intertwine with my third eye to create a visual language aided by the pen: place and person, practice, and purpose are what I offer. The familiar becomes foreign, and discovery is a short walk from home.I utilize analog and digital photographic mediums to create my work with a strong passion for black and white photography. I share a kindred spirit with the New Topographic Movement for its study of man-altered landscapes and our relationship between the natural world and the constructed human habitat.
