entry description
I'd always wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial at sunrise, but when I tried it was always too cloudy, the traffic was too bad, or it was too cold. Finally on one chilly April morning, with a sleepy five-year-old in tow, I made it just in time to watch Lincoln's face light up with the rising sun. While photographers lined the outside perimeter of the memorial getting shots of the Washington Monument across the reflecting pool, my daughter and I had the cavernous interior to ourselves. With the golden light spilling in, I was able to capture her first time seeing the memorial, dwarfed by its size and presence.back to gallery
