Good Morning, Cappadocia
One of the most memorable stops, was our time spent in the Cappadocia region, known for ancient cliff dwellings - reminiscent of those in Mesa Verde, Colorado - and 2) hot air balloon flights. We woke up at 3:30 in the morning to get ready and drive out to the hot air balloon launch before sunrise. It was still and quiet apart from the hot air slowly waking the balloons from their slumber. There was a sort of reverence for the early morning, the wild landscape and the memorable ride we were all about to take.
I brought my Canon AE-1 Program with me along with half a roll of film and captured this photo. It has always been one of the favorite photos I've taken because of the rarity of that moment - knowing it was a moment I would most likely never be able to recreate and now lives in my memory and in this shot.
Ever since, I have enjoyed photography as a hobby. I started shooting film photos in my early 20s when I found a Canon AE-1 for a good price on eBay. Digital is much more convenient, but I love that with film there is a mystery in what you will see when it's developed and it's like Christmas every time I look through the photos. To me, there is a warmth and depth in film that is unmatched.
A passion of mine that runs parallel to photography is travel. I hadn't travelled much outside of Kansas as a child except for a family trip to the Grand Canyon that blew my mind. I realized the world is full of beautiful places to explore and it my curiosity was awakened! Out of college I was hired for a career in IT that sent me around the US, and eventually took me to Sweden - things I am forever thankful for. I travelled around Europe and beyond extensively during the three years I was in Scandinavia and found joy taking photos along the way.
My biggest hope with my photography is that it will inspire or move others.

My brother-in-law is from Turkey, and he took my family on a trip around his home country and translated for us along the way. It was humbling how kind and hospitable his family was to ours and we were continuously fascinated with how much history and beauty there is throughout the country. One of the most memorable stops, was our time spent in the Cappadocia region, known for ancient cliff dwellings - reminiscent of those in Mesa Verde, Colorado - and 2) hot air balloon flights. about the photographer
I grew up in Kansas and got my first inexpensive digital camera before iPhones when I was about 13. I remember liking that my camera was a turquoise color and that I could take it anywhere. I remember taking photos around my parent's land; Apart from our house, it was about one acre of flat, desolate wind-blown land (like much of Kansas). The previous owners had left a bunch of "junk" to one side of the property and I enjoyed taking photos of it and changing it to black and white or sepia on my little camera.Ever since, I have enjoyed photography as a hobby.
