Chasing the Sublime

There is something about the sight of sunlight breaking through the clouds and bathing a scene in an intense, often golden or reddish light that just stirs my soul, especially when combined with the natural sublimity of a mountain scene. The sun acts like a roving spotlight, animating the landscape in a brief transfiguration. The effect is only heightened by the addition of a rainbow or of lightning. For each of these pictures, I used a graduated ND filter.about the photographer
