Howling At The Wind

entry description
My overwhelming memory from my trip to Greenland was the howling of the sled dogs. Once one of these beautiful, semi-wild creatures started to howl, the rest joined in and the sound was carried away on the wind as the blizzard raged. This is a sound that will stay with me for a long time.about the photographer
I’m a landscape photographer who is drawn to wild, remote places like the North York Moors, the western isles of Scotland and more recently to the indescribable beauty of the arctic. For me artistically less is more, so shooting in adverse conditions such as snow and fog helps me to pare down the elements in my images and gives me the simplicity I strive for. This allows me to emphasise the subject whilst creating depth to the photograph. For me there is nothing more beautiful than the stark outline of a bare tree in winter disappearing into the mist.back to gallery
