Hope keeps us moving forward
1) A nurse outside the COVID-Emergency Room, alone like in a "bubble of light". A portrait of the consequences that the fight against pandemic has brought to healthcare workers and in general to all people in the world: loneliness and isolation.
2) In the middle of the night, a deteriorating patient is transferred from Emergency Department to the ICU.
3) A patient with respiratory distress is deteriorating rapidly, so he has to be transferred by helicopter from the community hospital in Chioggia, a town on the Venetian lagoon, to the hub hospital in Mestre, Venice. Shortly after take-off he looks out of the window and observes with concern the places he fears he will never see again.
4) A moment of discouragement for a nurse-dispatcher of the Emergency Operations Centre, involved in the management of emergency vehicles: ambulances are almost running out!
5) An emergency doctor uses its only 5 minutes of break time to play with a child, left alone with the hospital staff because his mother is in isolation.

entry description
At the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare workers were at the end of their rope. After several waves and many months of hard work, there were moments of despair, when hope was lost and the feeling was simply that of being alone and powerless. Emergency Departments are saturated, thousands of patients have been transferred to the Intensive Care Units, patients being transported to the hospital seem to wonder if there will be a return journey and sometimes there wasn’t even enough ambulances to help everyone: the pandemic feels endless. In these moments, spend a 5-minutes break with a scared child, playing with and consoling him, seems like a way to exorcise just for a moment the pandemic and its consequences, thinking about the future and something beautiful.1) A nurse outside the COVID-Emergency Room, alone like in a "bubble of light".
