Mystical Antarctica
Then the family came around, my wonderful wife Jeanne and three children and I got busy. Of course, the family snapshots but now with just a small camera as it was not reasonable to haul around a big SLR along with the diaper bag, stroller and all the other kids gear.
Many years later, now in the US, kids were getting older and I actually had time for a hobby, my wife gave me DSLR (a Canon T3i). This caused an amazing transformation. I am not particularly an "artsy" person as I am dealing mostly with "rational things" as a Financial Planner, so it challenged the right side, the creative side, of my brain. As I carried my camera around with me, I started to see the world in a different light. I was looking for beauty, images that captured me, different perspectives, angles, lights. It opened my eyes to the beauty that God has created for our enjoyment.
I do love traveling and my journeys have taken me all over the world, including Guatemala, Antarctica, and all over Europe, mainly my home country, Germany.
So, here I am, an opportunistic photographer, or maybe an allrounder, or a "general practitioner". I have never specialized and I am trying to challenge myself every time I go out. The Photographic Society of Orange County, my photo club PSOC, is helping me with that.

entry description
On my recent expedition to Antarctica I had the opportunity to experience this mystical, awe-inspiring, epic, calm yet foreign continent. With my photographs I attempt to capture the majestic landscape and its vastness.about the photographer
Growing up in Germany gave me the opportunity to travel a lot. In my late highschool years I started picking up a camera and taking pictures of the world I visited. It was a Canon SLR and I took slides for many years, from all over Europe - Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, all the way to Brazil and Indonesia. Then the family came around, my wonderful wife Jeanne and three children and I got busy. Of course, the family snapshots but now with just a small camera as it was not reasonable to haul around a big SLR along with the diaper bag, stroller and all the other kids gear.
