Hong Kong Lines and Patterns
Nevertheless, those people look trapped and lost inside an artificial geometric labyrinth without realising it. The sense of confinement in which urban structures enclose the person into small boxes with no way out, and people's obsession with their mobile phones, suggests the modern condition of how we succumb to the glory of urban landscape and technology, which are both our created products. Perhaps this is a metaphorical view of urbanity while also implying the way of hectic modern city life in a metropolis like Hong Kong.
His ongoing project ‘Geometric Hong Kong’ is a street photography series which portrays the way of life of urban characters in the context of their surrounding geometric environment, with the photographic approach of isolating urban subjects, geometric element and forms from the chaotic environment of Hong Kong – which works metaphorically to imply the notion of urbanity as well as contemporary way of life within modern metropolis like Hong Kong.
