Andean Dawn
I wanted to capture the calm and sense of awe that the big mountains inspire when viewed in the early morning light. Often the images belie the harsh conditions being endured behind the lens. sub zero temperatures made worse by a frequent strong wind chill and the effort involved in carrying a heavy camera and tripod to around 6000m.
Some solo adventures and some with friends, the result was always a sense of gratitude for being fortunate enough to experience these wild places.
I hope you enjoy the images
I have spent a large part of the last 10 years exploring the European Alps and the opportunities they provide. Immersing myself in climbing, skiing, BASE jumping and paragliding has allowed me to experience the mountains in all their glory. Photography has enabled me to document some of these adventures and I hope the images I produce convey just some of the inspiration that I find in wild places.
In contrast to the serenity of the natural environment, I also enjoy capturing the artistry in manmade cityscapes, particularly at night.
Photography has, for me, become a mindful process. Helping me to take a step back from the chaotic world we inhabit, to appreciate the beauty in our surroundings.

entry description
Five weeks spent chasing sunrise and the beautiful light of golden hour on the high mountains of the Cordillera Blanca in Peru. Often requiring multiple day approaches and midnight starts in order to be on the summit or at least in the right location for the shots I wanted with the light as I wanted it.I wanted to capture the calm and sense of awe that the big mountains inspire when viewed in the early morning light. Often the images belie the harsh conditions being endured behind the lens. sub zero temperatures made worse by a frequent strong wind chill and the effort involved in carrying a heavy camera and tripod to around 6000m.
