entry description
An aerial view of the people on a boat between the partially flooded village Vilarinho da Furna during the summer season in Campo do Geres, Portugal on August 08, 2022. The village Vilarinho da Furna according to locals mites dates back to the 1st century. At the end of 1960, the village had almost 300 inhabitants over 80 houses and with the construction of the dam, they all were paid in order for the Dam project to be concluded. With the Dam construction, the village was flooded, but during the last years, due to the consequences of climate change, the rainy season has decreased and summer temperatures have increased bringing to the water surface almost all of the village area. According to Portuguese media and scientists, 2022 is the worse drought in the last 100 years.about the photographer
