Triboluminescence
Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe.and one of the most active volcano in the world. It is located in Sicily near the city of Catania. In the last two years its paroxysmal events have been increasingly powerful. On this volcano the triboelectric effect is a very rare phenomenon to capture.

Lightning comes out through the lava fountain, captured during a massive volcanic eruption of Etna, 10 february 2022. This phenomenon is called "Triboluminescence", could occur when Pyroclastic material bang together in the turbulent erupting plume. It's called also Triboelectric effect.Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe.and one of the most active volcano in the world. It is located in Sicily near the city of Catania. about the photographer
Landscape photographer and hiking guide. He lives and works in Sicily where he has spent many years photographing Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. He has published his shots and articles in various national newspapers and magazines including: Le montagne incantate (National geographic), Times, Daily Mirror, New York Post, Seattle times, Le vie dei tesori, Incontri. Co-author of the books "Borghi di Sicilia" (Dario Flaccovio Publisher), Sicilia Vulcanica (Moroni publisher). He is currently working on two other editorial projects on Sicily.
