Strange attractors
The pond and its inhabitants are in constant movement, shifting in a confined, situational state, yet never repeating the same path. The infinite beauty of the chaotic performance is what I try to capture with my camera.
My work consists of photographed impressions of the aquatic garden in my home yard. The pond forms a complete habitat and presents the reciprocal relationships between the organisms to their still environment. The pond is a case study of engineered nature. From my point of view, it is an arena, a laboratory, where I may ask what can be defined as “nature”? In contrast to a botanical illustration, that portrays each plant separately, I look for the ecological gaze that examines the organism in its environment.

entry description
If I stay still long enough, I could begin to sense the ever-increasing movement of the objects around me. The still water of the pond seems to flow faster and faster. The plants and creatures interact in primary, chaotic solutions. As I reduce my presence, I begin to notice the fine details. The pond and its inhabitants are in constant movement, shifting in a confined, situational state, yet never repeating the same path. The infinite beauty of the chaotic performance is what I try to capture with my camera.
