The resulting images should convey a piece of this tranquility to the viewer and in the best case positively stimulate his thoughts and imagination. Of course, I do not know if I always succeed. But it would make me very happy if I could share something of my journey to more peace of mind.
Just three years ago, Yens Franke exchanged music for photography. A transition without a break, because a life without art is not worth living for, according to the Munich/German photographer.
By studying illustrated books and visiting galleries and exhibitions of great photographers, especially from the 60s and 70s, he quickly understood the usage of light. The style of these epochs were unmistakably influencing the work of Yens Franke. Timeless, black and white and grainy. Expression, beauty and the elegance of the models are his leading priorities.
As early as 2018, his works were presented to the public for the first time in various exhibitions. Yens Franke then withdrew to devote himself more to his artistic work and his true love. Since autumn 2019, these new photographic works have been shown in various exhibitions. The photographs by Yens Franke are only available in small editions and are already enjoying growing popularity among collectors and friends of photographic art.
Further exhibitions are already planned for 2020. The opening date for the exhibition "Monochrome Jam" in the gallery of the renowned jazz club "Unterfahrt" in Munich has already been confirmed for February 2, 2020. In this exhibition Yens Franke shows a selection of his portrait photos from the working year 2019.

entry description
To bring myself to rest. To leave the latently existing mania of more, faster and better behind me. I have already made all this my task in the unspeakable year 2020. How and whether I will manage this, I will see at the end. The most important step towards more inner peace and serenity is my photo project: "parenthensis". Similar to a parenthesis in a written sentence, I try to interrupt the above mentioned negative influences by a new for me won picture language. Images that I encounter in nature or in the environment during long walks or hikes are my target. It is the interruptions, the pauses and periods of rest that take me out of everyday thoughts and lead me back to myself. The resulting images should convey a piece of this tranquility to the viewer and in the best case positively stimulate his thoughts and imagination. Of course, I do not know if I always succeed. But it would make me very happy if I could share something of my journey to more peace of mind.
