3AM 2
My 3AM shoots are a response to an instinct of being trapped. The purist and reward of roaming at night to create the 3AM series frees me of an isolated feeling. In contrast, although motivated by negativity, expressed visually is the high of exploring off the grid, reconnecting with nature and a rush from possible danger.
Location lighting is used throughout the project, using flash or torch lighting paired with colour gel sheets to paint light within the frame, creating ethereal and ominous scenes, mirroring both sides of a trapped and high notion. Many of the images within the project have multiple versions of variating lighting styles, creating a motional flow in the sequencing of the photos. With multiple lighting alterations taken within small pocket of liminal spaces, more visual information of the area is shown, enabling an immersive visual experience for each location. The trees, moon, lighting and landscape as whole captured act as emotive language, voicing the unspoken of an unconscious expression, drawing from pallet of recent experiences. Purposely voided of people, the images are catalysts of imagination.
3AM 2 is structured into 6 different chapters, each section containing a new style and location – 1. Yellow moon, 2. Valentines, 3. Marshlands, 4. Japanese Garden, 5. Forwards and 6. Aqua.
For this submission I’m only submitting the Forwards section, made Wells, Somerset (UK). Forwards reflects my explorations in the most eloquent, bright and colourful fashion of any other chapter in 3AM 2

about the photographer
Jack Marber Worsley is a photographic and visual artist from London. Producing photographic bodies of work since 2017, Jack’s visual style is describable as an aesthetically ethereal and surreal form of self-expression. An understudy to photographer James Dean Diamond, Jack’s work follows in his footsteps, contributing to the abstract photographic genre. A fusion between conventional photography and new wave art, the manipulation of Jack’s photos is a key part of his process. Through use of the digital darkroom, in-camera effects or location lighting, Jack alters his images to mirror his mind state. In recent years Jack has specialised in night photography, with his projects 3AM, 0208 and +972. Jack’s photographic art contextually exists as digital art and gallery installations pieces (his first gallery installation piece is included in 3AM 2). Jack is currently in his third year studying Photography (BA) at University of West England.back to gallery
