Between dark and light. The Messe Basel
The impressive exhibition center, the Switzerland’s most important congress hall and certainly one of the most important in Europe, is used to host prestigious arts events like the Art Basel in June.
Regrettably, the addition of the New Hall, one of the most attractive urban meeting points in the whole of the country, is only accessible during exhibitions.
That's why is basically impossible to join the Messe's amazing spaces and building structures without the usual crowd attending the openings.
This exclusive report allows to enter the nearly 2.000 m2 volumes and extension designed in 2013 by Herzog & de Meuron for a unique tour experiencing the cutting edge architecture solutions of one of the most famous congress halls of the world.
Her projects have been published on an international level and exhibited as part of solo and group exhibitions. She is a member of PhotoVogue, in addition to her role as a Professor of Photography in the Image and Storytelling Studio course of the Design, Multimedia and Visual Communication Department of the Faculty of Architecture in La Sapienza University, in Rome.

A Philosophy graduate, Francesca Pompei is specialised in Art and Architecture Photography and her professional collaborations include projects for AD-Italia, the Vatican City State, Emre Arolat Architecture, Jaca Book, Living Corriere della Sera, Artribune, Venaria Reale, the Cultural Heritage Ministry and the Italian Embassy in Doha. Artist selected to celebrate Italy’s Republic Day 2020 and 2021, she is winner of prestigious competitions such as Architecture MasterPrize 2022 and The Art of Building. Her work is included in the Annuario d'Arte Italiana 2022 promoted by Quadriennale di Roma and published by Treccani.Her projects have been published on an international level and exhibited as part of solo and group exhibitions.
