Ambit Variations
My images are intended as visual exploration. I try not to think about categories or concepts. My interest is the end result-- hopefully, something I haven't seen before. There is no formula to their creation, although they consist of whole digital photos, layered opaqued, inverted and/or manipulated in Photoshop.
Most situations are found, photographed without preconception and combined later. My work is essentially nonobjective, with varying degrees of abstraction. I try to resist the obvious, and often encourage flaws. Two-dimensional compositions seem to work best for me, and I always create in color.
Working with Digital has been a fresh method of visual discovery for me, resulting in shapes, textures and color combinations that I would not have considered otherwise.
There is always the surprise of discovery, the search for something unique, and the irony of making photos that may not eventually resemble photographs.
