Lines of My Life-Adelaide
Lines Of My Life is an ongoing project that arose from my connection to a retirement home known as Clairmont Place in Decatur, GA, USA. I was commissioned to photograph the residents for a book project. As I took photographs of many residents, I came to realize that no matter how old each one was they had a life story to tell and each one had their own particular beauty. My submission is called "Adelaide". Adelaide resides at Claimant Place. She dressed for our photo shoot. She is 99 years old. She lived a full and happy life. She was born before the Great Depression. She lived through world wars, the space age, cell phones and a million other advances. She has grandchildren and great grandchildren. She has survived cancer. As I photographed her I came to realize a regal quality about her, almost as though she could be a queen.
This single monochrome image shows the lines of her life.
