title
Ombra Mai Fu/ Never was a Shade
The works of master painters Raphaël and Caravaggio are a great source of inspiration to me and I instinctively choose to portray Cameron in a way reminiscent of these great artists. Raphael was known for his keen sense of drama, his use of gestures and facial expressions to portray emotion. Caravaggio often positioned his subject matter in indistinct, shadowy, or sparse settings and introduced dramatic lighting to heighten the scene’s emotional intensity.
There is a multiplicity of intertwined layers to discover about Cameron and his career as a countertenor. Being from Persian Canadian descent and now living in Amsterdam, whilst travelling the world for his passionate performances, he connects the past with the present in many ways. He travels the world both physically and mentally or externally and internally?
Peter George D’Angelino Tap provided some of his exquisite, haute couture pieces for these staged portraits. He is known for integrating the technical and intellectual aspects of many disciplines of craftsmanship in his designs. He also connects the old with the new.
In opera everything is imagination and the arias are often used to stop the action for moments of emotion and reflection. It confronts us with a different reality and urge us to look for something greater; something meaningful outside of everyday reality. This seems to be very relevant at this moment in time we live in.
In these staged portraits, I portray him in the way of the master painters. His grandeur and elegance are mixed with dramatic lighting, setting the stage for moments of reflection. A man who can connect with his inner demons and desires. Breathing art in every fiber of his body.
She creates classical Fine Art portraits and Still Lifes by combining beautiful use of light with references to symbolism, religion, art and history.
Whilst creating staged settings in the studio, she is able to draw attention to the possible aftermath of difficulties that we may encounter in our lives and they transcend the individual story and reflect on what is happening around us. Personal stories are translated to more universal ones.
She is inspired by the great artists in painting and sculpture of the previous centuries, especially the Greek and Roman period, the Renaissance and the Golden Age.
