Action and Light
Since I’ve always been into sports it was a natural step to start shooting my friends doing sports. I quickly noticed that shooting during “the golden hour” led to shots I liked more. But then I started shooting sports like skateboarding and it’s very hard to talk skateboarders into walking up at 5am to get that good light. That was when I started studying artificial light.
Nowadays I travel with a pretty big amount of gear and place flashes where I probably shouldn’t be placing to get the shots you will see here.

entry description
These shots are part of an ongoing project that I have that explores the possibilities of shooting high performance sports with studio lights. This year I was able to shoot some motocross, kiteboarding, skimboarding and BMX. In a certain way the different sports complement each other and present different challenges. BMX allows for a more technical approach, the ramps don't move and there is dirt everywhere so I have a well marked section to work around it. Kiteboarding is more challenging, I need to deal with the water and the rider needs to perform their tricks in a very specific place. Motocross might be the most challenging one for me. Every stunt is huge so it's quite tricky to light it up well. And skimboarding allows me to play with cool backgrounds at the beach.about the photographer
My interest in photography began during a time I was also really into mountain biking. So I was mainly shooting the landscape of the places I got to go on my bike. Since biking is a sport that teaches you the importance of waking up early, I’ve also learnt to appreciate the beauty of that early morning light.Since I’ve always been into sports it was a natural step to start shooting my friends doing sports.
