Jaguar
In our time with the Arhuaco family, Villafaña. I have had the honor to listen and portray some of their
stories in pictures. Pictures that portray the importance of feminism in indigenous tribes.
The series “JAGUAR” was made in the Heart Of The World, in Bumkwimake, in the Sierra Nevada. Where its complex ecosystem is balancing the health of the entire earth. It is a sacred place, that protects four of the most important indigenous communities in the world. The Indigenous community that is pictured, is called the Arhuacos. They are preserving and protecting ancestral knowledge that is invaluable to humanity.
The women in these pictures have been weaving their thoughts for many years. Without us knowing it, they have been able to maintain the balance of the earth by silently whispering their knowledge into their
mochila’s, into their cocoa. Their work as women and mothers correspond of making the emotional,
psychological, physical and spiritual work. Teaching their children to be guardians of the mother earth, in order to preserve the balance in the world.
To the indigenous women that teach us how to protect and liberate our sacred bodies. So we can later
reproduce these thoughts in seeds in order to live again in harmony with nature without destroying it.
To our future leaders, to our ancestors. Let’s get used to amplifying their voices, wherever they are.
My commercial trajectory includes photojournalism and event photography, as well as fashion and portrait series.
During my pre-graduate studies in photography at the University of Applied Sciences Europe in Berlin.
I have focused on the visual study and documentation of the subjects most relevant to me personally. I am heavily eager to nurturing my passion for all fields of creativity.
