In western society, nowadays more people reach high age than ever. Becoming old is a bless, being old is something people have to learn to accept. Are you driving a sports car in your eighties? Or are you waiting for death to come and get you because you're depressed about declining health or mental illness? Some people get lonely, feel useless, others enjoying the large amount of time and freedom they hadn't in their earlier years. I photographed many people of high age and find it fascinating to see how differently they cope with the unavoidable struggles of becoming older. Enjoying your last years on earth is an art of living.about the photographer
Photographer based in The Netherlands (Utrecht) with a focus on portrait and documentary. I love to capture the beauty of ordinary life of people, to reveal the story behind the people, for assignments and autonomous work. I prefer to work with natural light, but I can also enjoy to manipulate light settings with flashes, I adapt and improvise on the situation. I studied photojournalism and worked as a photographer for a South African newspaper in Cape-Town for a year. Afterwards I discovered more commercial and editorial photography, which I love to do, but always with the intention to tell a story.back to gallery
