The Needles, Last Summer Glow, Cannon Beach, Oregon
More than the places you go, it is hopefully the people you meet along the way, calling each one home, that leaves the greatest impression. For me, that has always been the true gift of travel: people, and the authentic interactions and conversations you keep with you from those journeys.
It is often on those same travels, and through the same interactions and experiences with others, that I find myself imagining just how easily our lives could be switched—that my life could be theirs, and theirs mine? That idea remains a constant source of fascination to me, and a key driver of my creative interest and work.

entry description
Captured on the last day of summer, Haystack Rock is just outside of the frame (off to the right). But the “needles” are great subjects in their own right. A flood of soft oranges and blues close to sunset made for a fantastic final summer sundown. The giant shadow in the foreground is from Haystack Rock itself, as if to still make its presence known. Beach goers add further interest to the scene, each seemingly in just the right place, enjoying these final rays of summer.about the photographer
Hey, I'm Matt. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest (USA) but based in Vietnam, I am a travel, documentary and fine art photographer focused on capturing the beauty of Vietnam, SE Asia, the US West and beyond.More than the places you go, it is hopefully the people you meet along the way, calling each one home, that leaves the greatest impression.
